It all comes down to the 5W's and 1H
1. WHO
2. WHAT
6. HOW
1. WHO
- Share more than the main characters. Choose words that characterize the person.
2. WHAT
- Give only a hint of the plot. Share only the essentials and don't spoil it!
- Give a general idea of the location the story takes place
- Sometimes the time, grade level, or year is important to share
- Share just enough of to give a cliffhanger or ask a question that needs to be answered. This will tell the reader why they should pick this book
6. HOW
- Think about the genre of the book and potential reader. Use words that entice them about how it is written
